For many followers of Jesus, non-resistance is one aspect of living for Jesus. In the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, they chose 1-W alternative service as conscientious objectors during a national call to arms. While Selective Service has not had a draft in recent years, the need for a witness of peace is as real today as ever. Furthermore, we do not know when world events might bring back a military draft.
This account by Willie Peachey is a stirring testimony of one who endured persecution for taking the path of Jesus. He was willing to do more than just serve his allotted time. Though Willie endured ridicule and mockery, God used him to bring salvation to his antagonist, an atheist.
I encourage all youth to read this testimony to reinforce these teachings and to adopt them as their own
