This book is a personal and basic account of how to grow and care for perennials. With a simple approach in mostly everyday language, this book tells where to plant and how to care for perennials. The choices enclosed are some of the author’s lifetime experiences and favorites.

The author hopes this book is used over and over, getting dogeared and dirty. My goal is to inspire people to plant more flowers and spend more time in the garden. I want Beyond the Picket Fence to teach generations to come, what I gleaned in my 50 years of gardening. Being and working among flowers is a wonderful legacy to leave your next of kin.
