Details

Regina’s father, John Hartman, was frugal and a hard worker. But it was nearly impossible to meet his needs on the family farm in Germany. Discouragement changed to hope as the Hartmans and their four children made their way to America. The new farm in Berks Country prospered, but being in the wilderness the Hartmans were unaware of the raids and massacres taking place in the surrounding areas. All was well one day when Mrs. Hartman took their young son, Christian, off to visit an ailing neighbour. When she returned, the house and outer buildings were in smoking ruins with the bodies for her husband John, her son George, and the family dog among the ashes. Where were the girls! Where were Barbara and Regina? This true story of Regina tells much about the rich faith in God among our early settlers in America. It’s a story filled with faith and hope.
