When news arrives that Mr. Martin may lose a large amount of money, both he and Mother must leave the children to try to save their money. Uncle Toby agrees to care for the children while their parents are away. Taking the three Martin children, two of their friends, and two more poor children to his cabin, the crew is in store for lots of adventures. As the winter weather sets in, things disappear from the surrounding homes and there are sightings of a strange man. When Skyrocket, the Martins’ dog, vanishes the mystery deepens. Will things be solved by Christmas or will the children have to celebrate without their parents and their beloved pet?
