ASK A QUESTIONDetails
Well, their eyes weren’t really grey; they were brown, but the father of Mr. Grey Eyes had hazel-coloured eyes and that is how the Grey eyes got their name. The family lived in Navaholand in a mostly round, earth-coloured house. There were four children in the family; the youngest was just a baby who did not have a name even though he was two weeks old! Relatives came for the naming ceremony. That was a wonderful time, but the man at the Trading Post said the baby needed a name paper. In fact, all the children should have name papers so the government could help the family with food and clothing.
This is a well-written story about the Navajo people and their struggle to be educated and still live in their traditions, as well as how their ways clashed with the modern world and Christianity. Teacherse and parents will appreciate that this book is written for younger grades!Specifications
