Gray Squirrel

As Gray Squirrel grew up in his home in the oak tree, his explorations through the woods brought him many adventures, from a close call with Cooper’s Hawk to a dangerous foray into James Briggs’ cornfield. Hunting season brought new fears to the woodland inhabitants. But Gray Squirrel proved quick and clever enough to survive the menace of guns and dogs, as well as the difficulties of the winter, when food was scarce and meat-eating enemies were on the prowl. In time, people from far and near came to know Gray Squirrel and his mate, Bright Eyes.
